PCB® manufactures a wide variety of cable assemblies that will mate to different sensor types, signal conditioners and data acquisition systems.
Cables are an important part of every measurement system. PCB carefully selects different raw cable types from trusted suppliers and time is taken to design cable to connector interfaces that will be reliable. All cable assemblies are produced at one of PCB's manufacturing locations to tightly controlled assembly procedures that ensure durability in various applications and environments.
How to Avoid Sensor Cabling Problems
There are two primary causes of problems with sensor cabling - connecting the sensor to the cable and cable strain relief. In this "Tips from Techs", learn how to avoid problems with intermittent sensor signals and cable failures.
Types of PCB Sensor Cables:
16 Channel, multi-conductor cables are shielded and wired for PCB® equipment specifically. Shielding minimizes noise when located near other power or signal cables. Custom versions are also available on request. Instrumentation-grade BNC / DB-50 connectors are provided to interface with Patch Panels and Signal Conditioners.

Cables are a critical part of any sensor measurement system and damaged cables cause frequent delays during test setup. PCB has developed a relatively simple device to test cables on a channel by channel basis for BNC, 10-32, and 5-44 coaxial connectors. Simply connect both ends of the cable and faults will be indicated for shield failure, conductor failure, or short circuit shield to conductor. Power is provided by a single, replaceable 9 volt battery.
Highlights:
- Fault indications for shield, conductor, or short circuit
- Compact and Portable
- Battery operation (9V)
- Easy-to-use
Applications:
- Validate cables pre and post-test to insure data integrity
- Vibration, acoustic, pressure, force testing
- Suitable for use during test setup or in cable re-validation
