Accelerometer Selection Considerations Charge and ICP® Integrated Circuit Piezoelectric

Introduction: This paper will review sensor selection considerations involving two general types of piezoelectric sensors. High impedance, charge output(PE) type and ICP® with a characteristic low impedance output. In addition to sensor electrical and physical characteristics, several factors play a role in the selection of an accelerometer for a specific application. These factors include environmental, operational, channel count and system compatibility.

How Impedance Relationships Influence Measurement Results

How Impedance Relationships Influence Measurement Results

Impedance is the measure of the total opposition to current flow in an AC circuit and it plays an important role in most electronic systems. Measurement chains that include an ICP® signal conditioner are no exception. The relationship between the output impedance of an ICP® signal conditioner and the input impedance of a readout device is a critical point in the measurement chain. These impedance values can influence both frequency and amplitude measurement results.
