Dr. Chad Walber Named International Representative of Acoustical Society of America Standards Committee

Nov. 26, 2014, Depew, N.Y. - PCB Piezotronics Inc., a manufacturer of acoustic, vibration, pressure, force, load, and torque sensors, announces the appointment of Dr. Chad Walber as the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) Co-TAs representative to the International Standards committee (IEC TC 29). Dr. Walber was voted into this position by a panel of his peers who are distinguished members in the acoustics field. Membership includes sensor manufacturers, consultants and end users.

The ASA establishes the criteria for acoustics compliancy of test and measurement microphones and sound level meter systems. They also define test and measurement procedures for mechanical vibration, shock, bioacoustics, environmental noise, and hearing conservation. The committee issues bi-monthly communications to the acoustics community and meets annually to develop new standards and revise existing standards.

Dr. Walber earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Acoustics and Vibration from the Michigan Technological University. In addition to his academic credentials, he has approximately 10 years of hands-on working experience with sound and vibration sensors. He also serves as the Co-chair of the ASA Standards Committee S1/WG1 (Microphones) and is a voting member of the IEC/TC29 Electroacoustics (Microphones) Standards Committee.
