Design Engineer I

Under direct supervision of a Lead Engineer, uses engineering education and background knowledge to complete basic product design projects, meeting established cost, time and deliverables goals, while following PCB NPD procedures.  Learns basic PCB product design (as appropriate), sensor system design (as appropriate) and application considerations (as appropriate).  Significant interaction with Manufacturing Technicians and other Engineers and Designers is required.     

               

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Promotes teamwork, cooperation and commitment to “Total Customer Satisfaction” among team members.

1)      Designs or modifies sensor products/accessories of modest complexity, applying basic engineering principles.

2)      Works with other engineers and departments to learn about sensor design, test methods and calibration procedures

3)      Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment for basic product design and analysis

4)      Interprets drawings, schematics and technical specifications

5)      Understands both mechanical and electrical design inputs.  The expected level of understanding will depend upon the individual’s engineering discipline

6)      Completes product documentation packages (drawings, bills of materials and specifications), under supervision, to adequately communicate design intent to Manufacturing and Supply Chain

7)      Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications

8)      Develops an understanding of the causal relationships of product design to performance and product cost

9)      Develops an understanding of Six Sigma tools and their use in PCB product development processes

10)  Follows PCB NPD procedures

11)  Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

BS Engineering in appropriate technical field, 0-5 years in appropriate technical field. Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office software, 3D modeling software.
