PCB's Conformal Ballistic Training

Including Firearm Dynamics & Acoustics
August 20 – 21, 2025 | Depew, NY

PCB Piezotronics two-day exclusive training will teach about performing conformal ballistic testing in accordance with the Sporting Arms & Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI) Standards Z299. The program will also delve into advanced testing techniques used in research and development for firearm dynamics and acoustic measurement.

Interactive, classroom-style training session guided by PCB's expert technical team, featuring direct insights and presentations from leading industry professionals at SAAMI, The Modal Shop, Oehler Research, Bill Wiseman & Co. Inc., and Dewesoft.

Your learning journey includes:

Day One

  • "Pressure sensors for ammunition testing, installation best practices, & troubleshooting" presented by PCB®
  • "Statical methodology of pressure limits (MAP, MPLM, MPSM), barrel corrections, common errors, and Introduction to the new SAAMI Suppressor American National Standard", presented by SAAMI
  • "Conformal cartridge calibration system K9905 overview and operation guidance", presented by The Modal Shop
  • "Ballistic data acquisition system overview – System Operation & Components", presented by Oehler Research
  • "Test fixtures for velocity & pressure ammunition, and ballistic accuracy testing", presented by Bill Wiseman & Co.
  • "Data Acquisition & measuring firearm dynamics: recoil, shock, vibration, acoustics and strain", presented by Dewesoft

Day Two

  • Live-fire demos: Ammunition pressure & velocity testing to SAAMI Z299, new suppressor standard acoustic testing procedure, and firearm dynamics of an instrumented rifle
  • Go behind the scenes: Exclusive, insider tour of the PCB® factory with hands on demonstrations and the opportunity to get your questions answered directly from PCB's knowledgeable engineering staff.
  • Hands-on training and one-on-one meetings (available upon request)

The program is geared toward ballistic technicians, test engineers, facility managers, and other end users of PCB® ballistic pressure sensors whose work depends on acquiring accurate data for SAAMI compliance. Individuals interested in firearm dynamics will also benefit from the class through the presented lecture material and live demonstrations.
