Calibrate with us

Our goal is to provide a range of services aimed to meet your vibration calibration needs. Our calibration services for vibration are completed via the back-to-back method according to ISO 16063-21:2004-01. All calibrations include a calibration certificate with traceability to the national standard.

PCB Europe’s precision Calibration Laboratory is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) (former: German Accreditation Body GmbH (DKD)). Calibration services are offered in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for the calibration of accelerometers from the frequency range of 10 Hz to 15 kHz.

The original factory calibration service code of PCB sensors and signal conditioners is found on the individual spec sheet for each piece of equipment. It is located under 'Supplied Accessories' on the bottom right corner of the spec sheet. The examples below illustrate where to find the codes.

If you cannot locate your service code, or would like to discuss special calibration requirements, please contact one of our Applications Engineers at 716-684-0001. We also offer calibrate services for similar sensors from other sensor manufacturers.

High Quality Technical Equipment

In order to deliver calibration services of the highest quality, PCB Europe’s Calibration Laboratory is equipped with a calibration system and software from The Modal Shop, Inc., a PCB Group Company. For more than 25 years, The Modal Shop has served as a system and service leader in the metrology community. With these tools, PCB Europe is here to be your partner in a world class calibration program.

The system is composed by an Air Bearing Shaker (Model K394B30/B31) and a Data Acquisition Workstation (Model 9155). The TMS software controls the system, takes readings and creates the calibration certificate.

Low Measurement Uncertainty

PCB Europe understands the importance of ensuring low measurement uncertainty calibrations. All vibration sensors with ICP® or charge output are excited per the ISO 16063-21 standard.

Here, the transmission coefficient of vibration acceleration in the frequency range of 10 Hz - 15 kHz is determined:

10 - 99 Hz 1,2 %
100 Hz 0,8 %
101 - 920 Hz 1,0 %
921 - 5.000 Hz 1,2 %
5 - 10 kHz 2,1 %
10 - 15 kHz 2,5 %

Prevent Deviations

When considering calibration intervals, it is important to ask “What is the cost of failure?”. For measurement confidence and quality, PCB Europe recommends an annual recalibration of all equipment. This regular practice serves as a means to ensure safe and accurate operation of your key instrumentation.

The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 calibration provides:

  • Internationally recognized calibrations from an ISO certified laboratory
  • Traceability to national and international standards of accreditaion bodies, organized by ILAC
  • Confidence in the accuracy and reliability of your future measurements
  • Control over the functionality of your existing sensors
  • Implementation of nationally and internationally recognized measurement standards and regulations

PCB Europe relies on ISO/IEC 17025:2005 calibrations. These calibrations are of the highest quality with lowest measurement uncertainty for a calibration system.

The Scope of Calibration

By calibrating the test equipment, functioning and accuracy is proofed and documented in the calibration certificate. Repair or adjustment is not carried out during a calibration.

Calibrations from the Manufacturer through PCB Europe

In addition to the services offered directly from PCB Europe, calibrations can al so be performed directly by PCB Piezotronics Headquarter in Depew, NY (USA) via PCB Europe. With over 45 years of expertise in sensor manufacturing and service,PCB is accredited by the A2LA accreditation body, member of ILAC.

These services are available for:

  • Vibration sensors
  • Shock sensors
  • Force sensors
  • Pressure sensors
  • Microphones
  • Electronics

Prices and delivery time are available upon request from PCB Europe.
