IMI Sensors Launches New High Temperature Charge Output Accelerometer

Sensor is approved for use in hazardous locations

May 15, 2013, DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial vibration monitoring instrumentation, such as accelerometers, vibration transmitters and switches, announced the release of EX611A20 with 10 feet of integral hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO® connector. IMI has developed this new High Temperature Charge Mode Accelerometer to be used in various gas turbine applications such as bearing health monitoring, condition monitoring, and structural damages monitoring. Other applications include commissioning of nuclear power plants.

The new model extends temperature survivability range to 1300 °F (704 °C) in an industrial housing. The unit comes standard with a 10 foot (3 meter) integral hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO® connector, but other cable lengths and terminating connectors are available (2-pin 7/16-27).

In addition to warranty, pricing, lead time, as well as height advantage over the competition, the IMI High Temperature Charge Output Accelerometer model EX611A20 also includes ATEX and IECEx approvals that most competing models do not carry. EX611A2 has another distinct competitive advantage with its sensing geometry featuring shear mode sensing elements versus the compression mode designs. Shear mode accelerometers are much less sensitive to thermal transients than compression mode sensors. Since these sensors are designed for extreme temperature environments, this design feature is extremely important for the end user.

IMI offers various differential charge amplifiers available to support the launch of EX611A20, including models 422M182 & 422M183.
