Manufacturing Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Works with other engineers and technicians on sensor technology, manufacturing processes, test methods, departmental procedures and policies.  Uses skill and knowledge to drive improvements on Internal and External Quality metrics.  Works with other engineers and technicians to provide support and training with regard to assembly methods, test procedures, ISO 9001 documentation, production equipment, company policies and procedures. Functional knowledge of “Six Sigma”. Capable of leading a small team of engineers and/or technicians in beneficial behavior and performance. Conducts failure analyses of rejects from manufacturing or customers and works at developing effective "Preventative Actions" that will not allow for reoccurrence.   Has authority to modify designs, written procedures, Bill of Materials, and routers to improve manufacturing process. Works with design engineers and production technicians to coordinate the timely transfer of new products to production.  Researches, analyzes and studies new and existing products to gain a true understanding of how they work, what causes certain performance characteristics, how design affects manufacturing processes, and how design will affect cost to manufacture. Learns how to lead and drive continuous improvement projects on current quality or cost related manufacturing  issues. Utilizes test equipment to test products and maintains a working knowledge of applicable calibration methods.  Functional knowledge of statistical process control techniques and error proofing hierarchy to implement irreversible Corrective Actions, and Preventative Actions. Maintains working knowledge of company calibration and test capabilities. Expert of PCB's ECO (Engineering Change Order) and New Product Development processes.

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and minimum five (5) years field experience.  Significant computer skills, Microsoft Office software, 3-d modeling software, dimensional stack up training, GD & T training, machining experience, assembly process experience, Significant Manufacturing experience including supervision, LEAN, statistical process control, "Six Sigma", design of experiments, Shainin techniques, error proofing, and design for manufacturing.
