PCB Piezotronics Enhances Acoustic Design Capability with New Anechoic Chamber

Improved Test Microphone Design and Development

PCB® 1/2 inch random incidence, high frequency microphone, model 377A21

New PCB Piezotronics Anechoic Chamber

December 28, 2012, Depew, NY - PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of microphones, vibration, force, torque, load, strain, and pressure sensors, as well as the pioneer of ICP® technology is pleased to announce the completion of additional testing facilities for acoustic product design. A new state-of-the-art anechoic chamber will provide additional "free-field" environments for testing new microphone designs. This in-house capability further enhances over 30 years of manufacturing test microphones at PCB®

"We have made this investment to improve our chamber and noise floor capabilities. The new anechoic chamber will allow us to come to market quicker with new designs by improving our free field correction testing time and ensuring that we meet related acoustic International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards in a shorter timeframe. The new chamber will also assist in our competitive analysis programs for our test and measurement microphone line", stated Mark Valentino, Product Manager.

PCB® carries a full compliment of prepolarized condenser microphones and preamplifiers. Powered by a 2-20 mA signal conditioner and standard coaxial cables, these modern designs are extremely popular due to significant cost savings in power supplies and cabling. The prepolarized designs can also be used with the same constant current source used for ICP® accelerometers, thereby minimizing set-up time. IEC 61094 compliant prepolarized condenser microphones are built around the ICP® sensor technology that PCB® invented. PCB® also offers the traditional externally polarized microphones that run off of a 200V power supply. All microphones are offered with a "Total Customer Satisfaction" policy.
