LD Buyer I (Part Time)

Summary:

Assist with maintaining compliance to all PCB, ATEX, Intrinsic Safe and PCB purchasing procedures. Manages raw material items assigned in the BSD system, MRO items and services as required. Responsible for supplier management that will include but not limited to clear communications of PO requirements, PCB policies and resolution of all issues with internal customers. Has the authority to commit company funds for goods and services with approved PO requisitions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Promotes teamwork, cooperation, commitment and sense of urgency to “Total Customer Satisfaction” among team members..

• As assigned, procures materials and services that conform to requirements of drawings / specifications, quality, delivery date and special customer requirements.
• Responsible for managing those raw material items with their Buyer name listed in buyer field in the BSD system and as assigned. This includes issues related to the supplier, specifications, pricing, carrier, quality and end user.
• Identify raw material items for cost reduction opportunities. Includes supplier change for parts in distribution, drawing / specification changes that results in a lower cost manufacturing process or developing alternate lower cost supplier.
• Supplier management; that includes developing existing as well as identifying new ones for the purpose of ensuring a continual supply of materials that conform to PCB requirements. This process includes ensuring that all new suppliers complete and return the Supplier Self Survey PD013 during the new supplier qualification process.
• Identify raw material items that are single sourced, single manufacturing plant where continued supply is at risk should a catastrophic event occur at the manufacturing plant and develop action plan to address.
• Is flexible with receiving supplier representatives, scheduled and unscheduled, that potentially could provide the organization with new technologies, materials, etc. that may improve our competitiveness in the market place.
• Participates in the management of the Supplier Rating System. This includes compiling the quarterly statistics for those suppliers the Buyer manages, communicating the rating to the suppliers and administering the supplier corrective action for those suppliers rated as unacceptable.
• Develop, measure, report and administer programs to reduce lead times.
• Responsible for ensuring on time delivery of all purchase orders the Buyer issues. This includes supplier contact, working with the Lead Buyer and rapid priority management reports to pull in or push out delivery dates due to MRP output changes.
• Assists LD Logistics Manager or Lead Buyer with departmental goals and metrics.
• Actively pursues creative supplier agreements / contracts that will reduce the purchase price, freight–in and divisional inventories.
• Takes every opportunity to negotiate better freight terms, purchase price, payment terms, and increased vendor inventory, all for the purpose of reducing PCB operational costs.
• Performs material planning utilizing planner’s workbench, production planning detail screens and VMI reports.
