Supplier Development Engineer

We are currently growing and in need of an Supplier Development Engineer in our Corporate Headquarters located in Depew, NY.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a BS in Electrical, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in low-volume, high-mix engineered, high-reliability electro-mechanical device manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. As well as 5 or more years leading sourcing, qualification and supplier development initiatives with marketing, engineering, and purchasing colleagues. Strong background in working towards Lean/KanBan/VMI relationship structures, along with experience working with suppliers of electronic and microelectronic components and assemblies, machined parts, ceramics or crystal materials, PCB’s, cables and plating services a must. DFAR experience a plus.

Certifications in APQP, PPAP, SPC, Gage R&R, Auditing, Lean / Six Sigma, and Project Management along with knowledge of: Metrology practices and evaluation techniques: Manufacturing Process Development, Characterization, Validation and troubleshooting desired.

The Supplier Development Engineer works with existing suppliers as well as sources new suppliers, and develops them such that PCB effectively and efficiently leverages third part capabilities to achieve design, production, qualify, cost, delivery and business relationship objectives. This position partners with internal groups including Purchasing, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management, Quality and Sales to define requirements and set standards for supplier selection and performance. They facilitate discussions on existing and proposed designs and leverage supplier capability to enable optimal designs which achieve marketing objectives, are manufacturable and enable supply chain effectiveness along with establishing collaboration mechanisms between internal groups and suppliers to drive lowest total cost, highest value-add relationships and establish and drive regular cross- business interfaces, including capability presentations and design, development, qualification, ramp-up and quality improvement reviews.

Our Supplier Development Engineer conducts capability and risk assessments of current and potential suppliers and provides technical expertise and project management for sourcing of components / subassemblies and services to approve and/or develop supplier capabilities relative to technology, performance, quality, cost and logistics. This position works with colleagues and suppliers to ensure that selection, development, qualification testing and validation of materials, manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling are performed in a manner that meet PCB’s quality system requirements.

They will lead supplier-related efforts to develop new process technology and supply chain management methods to support the design, development, manufacturing and ramp up of next generation product offerings, and actively manage supplier relationships and clearly communicates expectations/ metrics; monitors and tracks the progress of supplier’s development, contributions, and conformance to agreements. As well as support and as necessary, engage in supplier audits and RCCA activities related to non-conforming materials, products or services, and properly document activities in accordance with PCB’s quality system, best engineering practices, company procedures, regulatory, and customer requirements.

The Supplier Development Engineer will need to work with supply chain colleagues, maintain current understanding and knowledge base of industry best practices and strives to implement internally, and with suppliers, to meet world class expectations.
