Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage an efficient and effective production planning process based upon load hours and available capacity hours. Ensure achievement of goals related to available to promise (ATP), on-time delivery (OTD) and working capital. In collaboration with production, engineering, purchasing and finance maintain focus on compliant use of ERP and Shop Floor systems to drive data accuracy and date credibility. Actively monitor demand; the availability and flow of materials through planning, inventory and production to identify and resolve supply and capacity bottlenecks. Develop, track, review and report on planning related metrics which reflect performance at the individual, department, and company level. Engage staff and colleagues to identify Continuous Improvement opportunities, leverage tools to articulate target and current conditions, and address obstacles through the development and execution of plans (PDCA) to achieve the target condition. Manage and develop the planning staff with focus on Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) aligning the functional vision, strategy, processes, technology and metrics with corporate objectives. Monitor demand creation processes (forecast, safety stock, transfer orders and customer orders) to optimize credibility, effectiveness and efficiency of execution and maintenance. Leverage existing and continuously improve Resource Group Planning (RGP) processes to collaboratively maintain achievable production schedules based upon load hours and available hours, using weekly / monthly reviews to identify and eliminate drivers of inaccuracy and of constraints. Work with Value Stream Managers, Continuous Improvement staff and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) members to expand the use and scope of RGP processes to align planning and operations metrics, and transform the capacity demand planning processes. Identify and execute approved planning related programs/projects/processes to achieve the development and implementation of a repetitive Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Monitor creation and execution of production schedules; conferring daily with operations leadership and via planners with production supervisors, inventory and logistics to determine progress of work and credibility of completion dates. Work collaboratively to resolve issues associated with material availability, BOMs/Routers, quality and capacity. Work proactively with internal suppliers, purchasing and cross-site colleagues to establish and maintain inventory levels that support the production schedule, OTD and working capital objectives. Display capability and urgency in addressing expedited / reprioritized requirements demonstrating ownership and accountability at the individual staff member as well as team level. Coordinate directly with product managers, customer service and operations management in order to evaluate and process expedite requests as per procedure. Develop and maintain countermeasures to address root causes of customer service related issues. Engage product and operations management if there is a supply chain breakdown or production issue that precludes meeting the customer requirement. Execute current and improve planner processes and tasks associated with: identification and disposition of Excess and Obsolete inventory; measurement and management of inventory turns / working capital; data accuracy.

General: (note will involve cross-site collaboration as appropriate) Maintain matrices that define key control system fields and work x-functionally to maintain the accuracy of same. Update and institutionalize standard work for planning. Identify, define and engage staff and x-functional resources in lean projects to identify ways to eliminate waste and drive sustained performance. Develop, maintain, and report metrics that measure and drive individual and department productivity improvement by initiating new ideas, processes, organizational structure and/or skills and technologies. Responsible for staff management and development including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, hiring, training and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Accounting preferred. APICS Certified / Lean Certification desirable and evidence of on-going professional development. Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) method understanding a plus. 7+ years of demonstrated success of staff and x-functional collaboration for scheduling, capacity demand / S&OP process development. Environment is low volume / high mix / high labor content engineered products with multi-level BOM’s, internal suppliers, cross-site independent and dependent demand. Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Excellence in developing people and process and facilitating cross-functional / cross-site teams. Advanced ERP systems process understanding and engagement. Strong development and use of leading indicators and KPI’s to drive continuous improvement.
