Manufacturing Engineer III

Job Summary

Under direction, utilizing their education, experience and technical knowledge, the Manufacturing Engineer III is responsible for continuously improving product performance, to specifications, by developing and applying corrective / preventative actions to either design or process. Significant collaboration with other Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Production Technicians, Calibration Technicians, Production Managers, Planning, Purchasing, and Sales is required.

  • Scrap Reduction/Yield Improvement
  • Manufacturing process development/enhancement
  • New Product Development (NPD) design/process reviews
  • Product design development/enhancement
  • Manufacturing efficiency improvement
  • Resolution of immediate manufacturing production issues.

Job Duties within functions

  • Develop, manage and implement continuous improvement projects based on statistical analysis of product/process performance that are negatively impacting company metrics (scrap, yield, quality at the customer, efficiency, etc…).
  • Communicate and report to management on continuous improvement projects’ objectives, goals and status.
  • Responsible for implementing engineering change utilizing PCB’s Engineering Change Request system (ECR) to product designs and processes by modifying designs, Bills of Material (B.O.M.), drawings, procedures, routers, tooling/fixtures and equipment.
  • Conduct detailed failure analysis of non-conforming product (External and Internal Failures) to identify root cause for failure modes
  • Responsible for fixture design utilizing error proofing concepts to ensure appropriate functionality.
  • Research, analyze and study new and existing products, systems, subsystems, test equipment and processes to improve product performance, quality, cost and efficiency.
  • Participate in Product Design Reviews and collaborates with NPD team to evaluate new product designs and processes to ensure that lessons learned have been implemented to achieve successful transfer of product into production.
  • Responsible for becoming area expert on sensor technology, manufacturing methods, calibration methods, and company policies/procedures to provide technical support and training to other Engineers and Production Technicians.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Education/Training: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: 7+ Years Manufacturing Experience, Strong Problem Solving Skills, Error Proofing, Design for Manufacturability, Dimensional Stack-up Analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, Gaging and Testing knowledge, Assembly Process Experience (Manual and Automated), Machining Experience.
  • Software: Microsoft Office, 3-D Modeling Software
