Entry Level Engineer

Job Summary

Uses engineering education and background knowledge to complete basic product and process design projects utilizing PCB’s 3D modeling software in order to launch products into production environment. Works with other Engineers to learn basic sensor technology, manufacturing processes, test methods, departmental procedures and policies.  Creates the documentation package to provide the “recipe” for manufacturing our products.  Significant interaction with Sales, Manufacturing Technicians, and other Engineers is required.

Job Duties within functions

1)      Works with other engineers and departments to learn about sensor design, test methods, calibration procedures, ISO-9001 documentation, company policies, etc...

2)      Works closely with more experienced engineers to apply engineering background knowledge for project design, analysis, packaging and manufacturing of products.

3)      Develops a functional knowledge of how to “manage risk” of new designs.

4)      Upon receiving project definition and design inputs from Senior Engineer, completes basic product designs.

5)      Researches, analyzes and studies existing products to gain a true understanding of how they work, what causes certain performance characteristics, how design affects manufacturing processes, and how design will affect cost to manufacture.  Use the information gained to propose new materials, designs and processes to improve PCB’s market position.

6)      Learn PCB systems and subsystems in order to prioritize new design projects, design new product, roll it out to manufacturing, address first time build concerns, and document for later reference.  Focus on the PCB New Product Launch Process.

7)      Completes technical drawings, product specifications, and other documentation to provide the “recipe” for manufacturing, and a product manual to customers.

8)      Gain exposure to various sensor theories and associated technologies and testing methods.

9)      Develops ability to start to work with Sales to specify new sensors, develop reasonable tolerances, and develops understanding of reasonable project timing.

10)  Develops relationship with Engineers and Technicians in order to write effective and common procedures, Bill of Materials, and Routers to achieve the “flawless launch” of new products and long term manufacturing capability.

11)  Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operation of the Engineering     Department and PCB as a whole.
