Design Engineer I or II

Job Summary:

Follow all PCB procedures and forms in compliance to ISO 9001.

Under direct supervision of a Lead Engineer, uses engineering education and background knowledge to complete basic product design projects, meeting established cost, time and deliverables goals, while following PCB NPD procedures.  Learns basic PCB product design (as appropriate), sensor system design (as appropriate) and application considerations (as appropriate).  Significant interaction with Manufacturing Technicians and other Engineers and Designers is required.

Requirements:

Education/Training: BS Engineering.
Experience: None – 5 years
Physical Demands: Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Other: Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office software, 3D modeling software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Designs or modifies sensor products/accessories of modest complexity, applying basic engineering principles.
  2. Works with other engineers and departments to learn about sensor design, test methods and calibration procedures
  3. Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment for basic product design and analysis
  4. Interprets drawings, schematics and technical specifications
  5. Understands both mechanical and electrical design inputs. The expected level of understanding will depend upon the individual’s engineering discipline
  6. Completes product documentation packages (drawings, bills of materials and specifications), under supervision, to adequately communicate design intent to Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  7. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  8. Develops an understanding of the causal relationships of product design to performance and product cost
  9. Develops an understanding of Six Sigma tools and their use in PCB product development processes
  10. Follows PCB NPD procedures
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned

Design Engineer II

Job Summary:

Follow all PCB procedures and forms in compliance to ISO 9001.

With oversight from a Lead Engineer, uses engineering education and industry experience to complete moderately complex product design projects, meeting established cost, time and deliverable goals, while following PCB NPD procedures. Acquires an advanced knowledge of PCB product design (as appropriate), sensor system design (as appropriate) and application considerations (as appropriate). Significant interaction with Manufacturing Technicians and other Engineers and Designers is required.

Requirements:

Education/Training: BS Engineering in appropriate technical field.
Experience: 3 – 7+ years in appropriate technical field.
Physical Demands: Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Other: Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office software, 3D modeling software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Under moderate levels of supervision of a Lead Engineer, designs, develops, or modifies products of moderate complexity, applying appropriate engineering principles
  2. Determines feasibility of designs, considering costs, time limitations, planning and other technical and economic factors
  3. Uses engineering judgment to determine and then to analyze competing product design approaches in materials and construction, some of which may involve novelty
  4. Understands both mechanical and electrical design inputs, both within their area of expertise (expert) and outside (knowledgeable)
  5. Works with other engineers and departments to advance their understanding about sensor design, test methods and calibration procedures
  6. Develops sufficient expertise and knowledge of products to which assigned that they begin to be recognized by internal and external persons as a useful technical resource.
  7. Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment for moderately complex product design and analysis
  8. Completes product documentation packages (drawings, bills of materials and specifications), to adequately communicate design intent to Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
  9. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  10. Possesses an understanding of the causal relationships of product design to performance and product cost and can modify product designs accordingly
  11. Possesses an understanding of Six Sigma tools and is accomplished with their use in product development processes.
  12. Follows PCB NPD procedures
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
